Sabrina loves wearing dresses and there hasn't been much in the stores that Sabrina and I both have liked. So I asked my mom if she could make Sabrina some dresses. My mom was a home education teacher by profession and has sewn for over 40 years. As a child or teenager, I never truly appreciated mom's skills. However, mom has made Sabrina a variety of items since she was born including blankets, quilts, taggies, dresses and a pants suit. God has given her a special gift with sewing and I really appreciate the quality items she creates. We received the first one in the mail a few days ago. Sabrina put it on right away and loved the matching purse. Thanks Nanny!

Swimming Lessons
Today was the last day of swimming lessons. Sabrina has been in the Crocodile level which is the third of four unparented levels for children ages 3 to 5. You have to be 6 years old to register in the SwimKids program. She worked hard over the past 5 weeks and passed this level first time through! She loves the water and is definitely a fish.

Portraits Spring 2011
Sabrina had her portraits done at Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago and we received the photos and CD today. Our photographer was awesome and Sabrina was very cooperative. There are some very creative shots.

Sabrina's 4th Birthday!
Four years ago this morning, Sabrina was born 40 hours after I was induced and eventually had a C-Section. In some ways, that just seems like yesterday. She has become an amazing little girl who enjoys life to the fullest. Here is a photo from the day she was born and celebrating her 4th birthday over the past weekend.

Conversations with a 4 year old
I was tucking Sabrina into bed when she asked for a story. I told her that I would tell her a story but wouldn't read a book as she had wanted to play hide and seek rather than have a story.
Sabrina: "Tell me a Jesus story. The garden one."
Angela: "When Jesus is praying in the garden?"
Sabrina: "Yes."
So, I tell her about Jesus praying, Judas and the soldiers arresting Jesus and beating him up.
Sabrina: "Don't forget about them putting his feet on the cross."
It is amazing what children remember and learn. It is so true that children have an innocent faith regarding Jesus and His amazing love.
Earlier in the evening, we played hide and seek this evening. I was hiding under the stairs in the storage room and Sabrina had finished counting.
Sabrina: "Mommy, I know you are up stairs." She goes up the stairs and looks around. Then hollers. "Mommy, where are you?" I wait it out as Sabrina has a tendency to give up looking quickly. She comes downstairs and looks around quickly. Then she asks Scott, "Daddy, where is Mommy?"
Scott: "She has to be somewhere in the house. Where did you look?"
Sabrina: "I think she is upstairs." As they are looking in closets, etc,
Scott: "Do you think Mommy is in here?"
Sabrina: "No, Mommy has big arms and legs."
Sabrina: "Tell me a Jesus story. The garden one."
Angela: "When Jesus is praying in the garden?"
Sabrina: "Yes."

Childhood Memories
I haven't kept up with daily photos but have taken several a week. This one is from last night. Sabrina is transferring the items from her pink/yellow purse to the blue bag. The blue bag was made by my mother for me when I was about Sabrina's age.

Day 8 of Project 365
These photos were taken last evening (Jan 08, 2011). I t had snowed all day and there was wind too creating lots of snow drifts.

Day 7 of Project 365
I have included two photos today to give you the full perspective. Sabrina and I went to get our hair cut today. The hair dresser also put Sabrina's hair up in a "pony" which is a treat for her. I am not very good putting in pony tails or other hair accessories as I only had long hair as an adult for a couple of years. Sabrina is loving having her in a pony.
Day 6 of Project 365
This photo was taken last night (Jan. 6, 2011) but I forgot to download and place it on the blog. Sabrina and I are playing Barbie dolls. The doll I am holding is the one I had as a child. The Barbie case, cloths and accessories are also mine.

Day 4 of Project 365
It was snowing lightly when we arrived home after work. I began to shovel the steps and walk way and Sabrina asked to play in the snow and make snow angels. So we both bundled up and played in the snow for a bit. She just loved the fluffy fresh snow.

Day 3 of Project 365
This is some yeast bread I made today using the Quick Rise yeast rather than traditional yeast. I have probably only made bread 2 or 3 times in my life. However, my mother was visiting from Nova Scotia in early December and made us some. I enjoyed it so much that I was determined to make some myself. It turned out great.

Happy New Year!
It is hard to believe that another new year is upon us. The holidays have been relatively quiet for us. Ihave been off since Christmas Eve day and have enjoyed spending extra time with Sabrina. Scott has had to work but not totally crazy hours as we anticipated due to a current job he is working on. We had a quiet Christmas day at home. Sabrina was excited about Santa and enjoyed playing with her new toys that day. Scott was not feeling well and rested for most of the day. Here is a digital scrapbook layout of our Christmas morning. Enjoy the photos. Also check out my additional page called Project 365. Look there daily for a new photo of our day to day life.

Halloween Fun!
Sabrina wanted to go Trick or Treating this year. Previously, we have stayed home and Sabrina has helped to hand out treats to the kids that came to our house. She dressed up as a "Cowgirl Princess". She had a tiara to wear but decided as only a four year old could, to wear her cowgirl hat instead. I was reminded of the fun children having dressing up and showing other people. She did a great job asking for "trick or treats" and deciding which house to go to next. Here are some photos of our Cowgirl Princess.

New Wheels
Scott and I decided to turn in the Jeep Liberty as it was a lease. We decide to get a Dodge Journey which is a cross between an SUV and a minivan. One of the features I like most about it is the third row seating. We now have room to travel in one vehicle if we have company but that extra row folds down for more cargo space too. Here is a photo of us with the new car.

Daily activities
I am working on creating a board book for Sabrina using my Heritage Makers digital publishing program and took a few photos of her cuddling her baby in bed.

Last week, Sabrina and I baked cookies together. I watched her use the measuring spoons and cups and it reminded me of her playing in the sand (white and brown sugar was in the bowl).

New Adventures Part 2
Today, we went on a ropes obstacle course with a zip line at the end. I had a blast and the height from the ground didn't bother me. At least not until the sudden drop and speed on the zip line. Enjoy the photos.
New Adventures Part 1
Scott and I are enjoying a weekend away in Banff. I had a medical appointment (sleep related) on Friday and a follow-up tomorrow (Monday) in Calgary and thus decided to have a couple's weekend. Sabrina is with friends of ours and I am sure she is having fun with the kids and the open space of the acreage.

Scott and I decided to try some new activities while in Banff this time and went on a 25 minute helicopter ride over the mountains. The view was amazing. Scott even had the opportunity to sit in the front seat beside the pilot and have a slightly different view. It was windy and the helicopter bounced around a bit causing me to feel quite motion sick by the end of the ride.

Portraits!
On February 22, 2010 Sabrina and I went over to a friends house for a photo shoot. My girlfriend had purchased a new SLR camera and was wanting to try it out. She has two boys, one 3 years old (only a few months older than Sabrina) and one is 1 1/2 years old. Thus, I helped with child participation and patience while my girlfriend took lots of shots. With a little bit of photo editing, we captured some adorable photos. Enjoy!
